Petition to Make Farm Animal Abuse a Felony Offense

PETITION: Make Farm Animal Abuse a Felony Offense

TARGET: US House of Representatives

A factory farm is a large, industrial operation that raises large numbers of animals for food. Over 99% of farm animals in the U.S. are raised in factory farms, which focus on maximizing profits and efficiency at the expense of animal welfare. Daily life in a factory farm is one of pain, frustration and misery- they’re often given so little space that they can’t even turn around or lie down comfortably. Egg-laying hens are kept in small cages, chickens and pigs are kept in jam-packed sheds, and cows are kept on crowded, filthy feedlots.
Human health and our environment are also being hurt by factory farming. Farms that are not properly maintained can be breeding grounds for salmonella and E. coli, which are passed to humans through meat, dairy and eggs. To combat these unsanitary conditions, animals are fed large doses of antibiotics—but bacteria is constantly adapting and evolving. Antibiotic abuse creates the potential for dangerous, new drug-resistant strains of bacteria to develop and spread among people.
We must tell our elected officials that we demand justice for abused farm animals, and insist they make farm animal cruelty a felony in all 50 states.

If only people learned from the coronavirus pandemic that all this harm nowadays with the illness is because we didn't take clean animal environments seriously enough that animal diseases spread to human beings. People, keep nature clean. Pick up the trash around you. Thanks.

Animals lives are important in general, when we have something to do with their lives in a negative way we know we are in control of what we need to do and what we are responsible for.
