Although they look a lot like a wolf, they are not wolf hybrids. They have more than likely been crossed with the Husky, Malamute, etc.



Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier History

The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier hails from Ireland. It is a diverse and versatile farm dog that was primarily used to rid the place of vermin. It also made for a good guard dog that would alert the place if people or animals were around that shouldn’t be. Virtually all terriers can be tied back to a common lineage. It is thought that the first Wheaten Terriers arrived in the United States in 1946, post World War Two. It was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1973. This will be a high energy dog with a strong prey drive. It will still be a good working dog and will be able to perform it’s vermin duties in the modern world. It’s hard to tell, but it might not be the best dog to have around your cats.
